Volunteers are making cabbage rolls at Saint Augustine’s Church.

Cathie Roibillard’s family has been at this for 50 years, using her grandmother’s secret recipe.

She and her family are making 11,000 cabbage rolls for this weekend.

“In the earlier years of the festival, we made only five thousand,” she said. “I think we’ve made three thousand. Then, we were running out after one day.”

It’s very rare to have any cabbage rolls left over the after the festival, she told NewsCenter 7.

Tens of thousands of people are expected to take over downtown Waynesville Saturday and Sunday.
